I take on my scariest challenge yet! Assembly at my old school?!

So the countdown begins!!! Just 5 days to go until the final race weekend in the Air Asia Clio Cup at Brands Hatch…

..So I thought I would go back to Primary School to remember how it all began.

I took my track day car full of various different trinkets, trophies and toys to show to all the youngsters at my old primary school. I went there to tell them my story, the story of how I started out just like them and how I am what I am now. We started with a little video clip of Snetterton’s race before seeing how many people now wanted to become a racing driver, and as far as I could work out, it was nearly all 200+ of them…

We then got one youngster…. thanks Ollie…. to dress up like a racing driver!! That’s right, full race suit, fire proofs, helmet, boots, gloves, the lot! He was very hot apparently, but saw just what it was like for someone like me in the car when its scorching, like this weekend apparently! Amongst other things, I was asked questions, I showed them bits of broken cars, my trophies and various other things and talked to them of where and when I started….

They’ve told me that they will all be watching this Sunday, (please Mum and Dad!) and that they want me to go back next week to say hi. All that’s to say is that I generally couldn’t believe how small everything was and yet it all seemed so big some 10-15 years ago! A good morning though, and let’s hope that I’ve inspired at least one person, if not all of them, to become a racing driver, or at least follow their dreams just like me!

And finally… Bring on Brands Hatch and the glorious weather due.
