Files ready to mount Thruxton Challenge

Team Pyro’s Josh Files, heads to Thruxton this weekend for rounds 5 & 6 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup, with the sole aim of getting his title aspirations back on track after a plagued weekend at Donington Park two weeks prior.

The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break campaign, exited the Donington Park weekend having gained a ninth position and a DNF, due to the close bumper-to-bumper racing that the series provides.

Despite being placed in second position in the championship standings after the opening round at Brands Hatch, Norwich’s Files, renowned for his pace in the series, now sits in sixth position, as Britain’s premier one-make saloon car championship rolls in to the Hampshire circuit.

The 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup Rookie of the Year remains confident of a strong performance, aiming to propel himself back into championship contention, ahead of the event that supports the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

“I can’t wait for Thruxton, I intend to be in the hunt for victories this weekend,” said Files.

“I was very quick here in winter testing, I absolutely love the track, and its flat out approach, every time that I’ve been here I’ve been the quickest.”

Rounds 5&6 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will get underway on Saturday, 28th April, with qualifying at 11:30, followed by race one at 16:40. Race two takes place on Sunday, 29th April, at 13:00.
