Files aims for mature Oulton Park showing

Team Pyro’s Josh Files heads to Cheshire’s 2.26 mile, Oulton Park circuit this weekend (9/10 June), for rounds 7 & 8 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup, where the 2011 Rookie of the Year, will aim to close in the 59 point gap currently held by Team Pyro teammate, Jack Goff, at the top of the championship standings.

The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break campaign, endured a mixed weekend last time out at Thruxton, with the Norwich based 21 year-old, gaining second and thirteenth place finish in torrential conditions.

Still confident that he can establish himself as an important piece in the 2012 title puzzle, Files remains determined to produce a mature performance, ensuring that the gap between his championship counterparts is managed successfully.

“Oulton Park is a circuit that I absolutely love,” explained Files. “It’s very picturesque, and I would definitely say that Old Hall is my favourite corner out of all the circuits that I have raced on in the UK.”

“Ideally I would like to go out there this weekend and put myself in the best position to challenge for victories, but I have to think about the bigger picture and the championship, I must go out there and manage the gap between myself and the top of the standings.”

Round seven of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will get underway on Saturday, 9th June, at 16:05. Round eight of the Britain’s premier one-make saloon car championship will take place on Sunday, 10th June, at 15:14.
