Team Pyro’s Josh Files will start round 13 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup in fifth position after a close fought qualifying session at Silverstone saw the top 20 cars in the ultra-competitive one-make championship separated by just under a second on the National Circuit layout.
The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break Campaign, kept himself in contention ahead of Sunday’s action by posting a fastest lap time of 1 minute 05.467 seconds, as he searches for a podium push at the world-renowned Nothamptonshire circuit.
“The session was a bit hit and miss really but I’m just concentrating on the racing tomorrow now,” explained Files.
“I’ll be looking to make the best start possible and work with Jack Goff, who will line up next to me on the grid. We’re both a little bit further back than we wanted to be, so we’ll both be looking to progress through the field.”
“I have always said that if you start in the first three rows of the grid then you have a chance of earning podium finishes, so I’m feeling confident ahead of tomorrow.”
Rounds 13 & 14 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will get underway tomorrow (Sunday, 7th October), at 09:45 and 16:25 respectively and will be aired live on ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
