Norwich-based Josh Files gunning for UK Clio Cup victories on home turf at Snetterton

Josh Files is gunning for race victories at his home circuit of Snetterton, which hosts Rounds 11 and 12 of the ultra-competitive 2013 Renault UK Clio Cup season (3-4 August).

The Norwich-based racer broke his UK Clio Cup race wins duck in the most recent instalment of the 2013 season at Croft Circuit and subsequently entered the lengthy mid-season hiatus holding the championship initiative.

Set in picturesque surroundings near Thetford, Norfolk, the 2.99-mile Snetterton 300 circuit is a technical challenge that boasts an abundance of overtaking opportunities and provides spectators with unrivalled views of the action.

Approximately 40,000 fans from the East Anglia region and beyond are expected to turn out for the mid-summer race meeting and Files is keen to give his home supporters a cause for celebration.

The 22-year old – backed by Bacs Payment Schemes Ltd, the people behind Direct Debit in the UK – vows to take an aggressive, no holds barred approach to Snetterton with the view of cementing his points lead in Britain’s premier one-make saloon car championship and adding yet more silverware to the Files mantelpiece.

“At Snetterton we’re going to be pushing for wins or podiums at the very least,” said an optimistic Files. “I absolutely adore Snetterton; it’s my local track, it always attracts a big crowd and it technically challenging lay-out plays to my strengths.

“I know Team Pyro has what it takes to provide me with a competitive car that’s capable of winning, so there’s no reason why I can’t scale the top step of the podium in both races and ultimately bolster my standing in the championship. To win at Croft was a real monkey off my back and boosted my confidence no end. That success should mean the momentum is with me. I’m feeling really positive!”

Renault UK Clio Cup qualifying is scheduled to take place at 11.20 on Saturday 3 August, with Round 11 later that same day from 16.40 and Round 12 at 11.20 on Sunday (4 August).
