FILES RETURNS TO HOCKENHEIM FOR ROUND 2 OF TCR EUROPE

28-year-old Josh Files will return to the Hockenheimring circuit in Baden, Germany for round 2 of TCR Europe, the very track where he secured his last TCR Germany title. At the hands of his Hyundai i30 N TCR car Files looks to make further inroads into the competition after the Hungarian opening round.

Hungaroring set the scene for round one where Files duly took a 2nd place finish in the first race. In race 2 a last minute technical issue meant that he had to start from the pit lane, but his team, Target Competition, managed to fix the problem in record time meaning Files could fight his way from the back of the field to an 8th place finish by the flag. He now sits just 5 points shy of the championship leader.

Looking ahead to the Hockenheim round, the Brit will be looking to continue the fine form he and his team demonstrated in Budapest, searching for pole positions and further podium places.

“It’s honestly great to be coming back to Hockenheim, a circuit that I have many fond memories of. Together with Target we took both German titles here so it’s a track I know and love. That’s not to say I can go into the weekend expecting it to be easy. The track is very difficult to find a good balance and the competition this year really is another level. It certainly won’t be easy” Expressed Files.

“To make our lives just that little bit harder, all of the other cars have lost 30kg or more in weight so we will be up against it and really need to bring our A game. But I like a challenge and I love a fight so rest assured I’ll be pushing from the off!”

In a more conventional timetable this time out, both Free practice sessions kick off Friday, with the 2-part Qualifying session taking place Saturday morning. Race 1 will be broadcast on live TV at 14.40 CET with live streaming available also, and race 2 will conclude the weekend on Sunday at 11.35 CET again streamed live and on local terrestrial TV.
