Files aiming big ahead of Snetterton 300 visit

Team Pyro’s title protagonist Josh Files heads to Snetterton 300 circuit this weekend (11/12 August), in the hunt for victories as the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup rolls into his home county for rounds 9 & 10 as support to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break Campaign in co-ordination with Marie Curie, gained a second and fifth placing last time out at Cheshire’s Oulton Park circuit to close the gap on Paul Rivett, who lies just 14 points ahead in second position in the championship standings.

Whilst teammate and championship leader Jack Goff currently holds a 63 point lead over Files who finished as 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup Rookie of the Year, the Norwich based racer remains determined to lead at his home venue and take a big step forward in his championship challenge at the 2.99 mile circuit this weekend.

“I’m feeling very confident ahead of the weekend,” explained Files. “I’m really looking forward to racing on my home venue and can’t wait for all of the action to re-commence.”

“Now that we’re half way into the season, I need to think about getting as many points as possible for the championship, so I definitely think that I have it in me to go out there and get two poles, two wins and two fastest laps under my belt.”

“This time last year I had a very good run that earned me my breakthrough podium here at Snetterton 300, I’m hoping for the same again this year, but this time I’ll be on the top step of the podium.”

Round 9 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will get underway on Saturday, 11th August, at 16:00, with round 10 at 13:45 on Sunday, 12th August. Live coverage of this ultra-competitive one-make series can be seen on ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
