Files to doggedly chase Eurocup Clio initiative at Austria's spectacular Red Bull Ring

Team Pyro’s Josh Files is determined to reclaim the Renault Eurocup Clio Championship initiative when the series visit’s Austria’s Red Bull Ring this weekend (19-20 July).

The tenacious 22-year old got his maiden Eurocup Clio campaign off to a sensational start at the evocative Imola circuit in May, achieving an emphatic race win to head the points table.

A troubled outing at Belgium’s legendary Spa-Francorchamps followed, but Files produced a dogged display that culminated in a brace of podium finishes to keep him in the title hunt.

But while the Norwich-based racer heads to Austria for the next World Series by Renault meeting with no prior experience of the Red Bull Ring, he is bullishly targeting more silverware in a bid to reclaim the championship initiative.

“My sole target is to regain the championship lead, taking points out of my opponents in any way possible,” said a resolute Files. “If that means winning, then winning is what we’ll do! I have never been to the Red Bull Ring before, but from what I’ve seen it looks quite ballsy – it should suit me down to the ground.

“We have made a few more inroads with the new generation Clio, but there are still issues that need sorting and improvements made to the setup. It will be there by the end of the year, that’s for sure.”

Renault Eurocup Clio Championship qualifying will get under way at 9.35 on Saturday 19 July, while Rounds 7 and 8 will be held at 10.50 and 17.35 respectively on Sunday 20 July.
