Consistent qualifying performance from Files at Donington

Team Pyro’s Josh Files will start rounds 3 & 4 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup from second and third position respectively, as the 21 year-old from Norwich, maintained his consistent start to the 2012 championship.

The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break campaign, led the session with 16 minutes to go until three-time Renault Clio Cup Champion, Paul Rivett, edged ahead of the 2011 Rookie of the Year with 13 minutes to go.

Despite setting the second fastest time for round three Files was unable to match the feat for round four, and will start the race from the second row in third behind series rival and teammate, Jack Goff.

“It was a bit of an odd session to be honest,” explained Files. "We went out on scrubbed tyres at the start of the session, and that’s what we went fastest on.”

“The car felt pretty good, I drove the socks off it and I’m glad to come away with P2 for the first race tomorrow.”

“I’m on the outside tomorrow, so I need to make sure that I get a great start off the line so that I can edge out Rivett going into the first corner at Redgate."

Rounds 3 & 4 of the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will commence tomorrow, 15th April, at 09:20 and 15:00. The series will be aired live via ITV4 and ITV4 HD.
