Files heads to Rockingham for championship push

Team Pyro’s Josh Files heads to Northamptonshire’s 1.94 mile Rockingham Motor Speedway this weekend (22/23 September), as the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup hot’s up with just three meetings remaining in Britain’s premier one-make saloon car championship.

Files, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break Campaign in co-ordination with Marie Curie, endured a disappointing weekend on home soil at Snetterton 300 last time out, but secured two top five finishes to keep in touch with top of the standings as the season draws to a close.

Situated in fourth position in the championship standings, Files will be looking to showcase his raw speed and talent at the renowned venue where he showed great pace in 2011, as he looks to strengthen his title ambitions.

Ahead of the weekend’s bumper-to-bumper action as support to the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, Files remains aware of the challenge that lies ahead over the course of the weekend.

“Rockingham is a circuit that I have been looking forward to all year, we ran very well there last year, and I just missed out on victory in a close fought battle with Jack Goff,” explained Files.

“We’ve been very quick at the circuit in the past and I expect more of the same this weekend, I’d like to push for victories in both races to allow me to keep in touch with the top of the standings as we head into the final two meetings of the year.”

The AirAsia Renault Clio Cup will get underway with qualifying on Saturday, 22nd September, at 16:00. Rounds 11 & 12 will get underway on Sunday, 23rd September at 10:40 and 15:50 respectively.
