Files takes victory number 5 in Sachsenring on the way to his second German title

The 26 year old Brit took a commanding victory from Pole position in race 2 of the TCR Germany championship at Sachsenring in round 6 of the season. He made a good start and lead the race through the first laps creating more than a 1 second gap. His closest rival Mike Halder made his way up to 2nd from 5th on the gird and was chasing down the championship leader. Halder came within 1 second but Files soaked up the pressure and extended the gap in the second phase of the race to win by a comfortable margin.

In race 1 on Saturday, the reigning champion made his way from 10th on the grid to finish in 4th place just outside of the podium positions. It meant the championship will go down to the wire in Hockenheimring in just 1 weeks time, with Files extending his gap to 78 points over Halder with just 85 points available.

“I am very proud of all of the Target Competition boys this weekend. We had to really work for the results as we didn’t have the 1 lap pace we expected and therefore qualifying was very difficult. We all worked extremely hard throughout the weekend and improved the car to eventually become winners again, so this victory is not just for me but for everyone” said the Brit

“Now we have to go to Hockenheim and push like ever for victories, as that’s why we go racing. It will be a great finale and I cannot wait”

Hockenheim gets underway in just 4 days with a free test on Thursday (21st September) followed by the official Free practice sessions and Qualifying on Friday.
