TR6 Test didn’t go to Plan!

So today was the first time back into the old Championship winning Triumph TR6 freshly rebuilt over the winter, at the New Snetterton 300 circuit. I was extremely excited to get back in the car and set it up again.

The day started with Dad out in the car trying to work out the new brakes. He did just 3 laps before coming into the pits to hand it over. I went straight out of the pits and instantly couldn’t believe just how fast it was! But then on lap 2 the brakes failed dramatically going into the 2nd corner, a tight hairpin. There was nothing I could do but snatch 2nd gear at the last minute and turn the car hard into the bend in an attempt to unsettle the car into a spin. It worked perfectly and I came away unscathed as did the car luckily. But this was to turn out to be the end of the day as it was a dramatic failure of the brakes master cylinder, so with nothing more to do we called it a day by 9.30am! Oh well, at least we we’ll be testing it at Silverstone in 2 weeks time, fingers crossed for that one!
