Files remains focused ahead of Silverstone

Team Pyro’s Josh Files visits Silverstone this weekend (6/7 October), as the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup takes to the 1.64 mile National Circuit for the penultimate round of Britain’s premier one-make saloon car championship.

The driver, backed as part of Direct Debit’s Big Break Campaign, currently placed fifth in the provisional championship standings after rounds 11 & 12 at Rockingham Motor Speedway, suffered a mixed weekend last time out, gaining a highest finish of fifth position in treacherous conditions at the venue situated near Corby.

As the championship rolls into Silverstone this weekend, a fresh challenge is presented to the 2011 Rookie of the Year, with Norwich based Files having never previously competed on the layout in the Clio Cup.

Despite this however, Files remains quietly confident as he hunts down his maiden victory in the championship that is renowned for propelling the careers of Mat Jackson, Dave Newsham and Aron Smith.

“I’m feeling quietly confident ahead of Silverstone this weekend, and I’m sure that the car will feel great as Team Pyro always prepare a good car,” explained Files.

“The national circuit only has four corners so it will be important to find the tow in qualifying, where up to three tenths can be found a lap.”

“Although Silverstone is a circuit that is still relatively unknown to me, I’m aiming to go there and push for that maiden win, if not then push for two podiums.”
