TCR EUROPE HEADS TO OSCHERSLEBEN IN GERMANY

The next instalment of the 2019 TCR Europe calendar will take place at the Oschersleben Motorsport Arena in Germany, 2 hours West of Berlin. Files and his Target Competition squad are currently sitting pretty at the top of both Championship standings and will be returning to the circuit where it all began for them in 2016’s TCR Germany.

British driver Files took a commanding victory during the last round at Red Bull Ring, which he then followed up with a 2nd place finish in race 2’s reverse grid encounter. He currently sits at the top of the table with a 36-point lead heading into this weekend.

Likewise, Target Competition have a large lead in the teams’ standings, courtesy of the efforts of Files and his team mates, and will be looking to extend that further. As a result of the success however, the Hyundai i30 N TCR cars will yet again be the heaviest on the grid, this time at a vast 1345kg, 40kg more than the next heaviest model.

“Well Red Bull Ring can’t have gone much better if we tried” Expressed a jubilant Files. “However that was then and this is now, and we realised off the back of our performance that we were going to increase in weight for Oschersleben, so we have been working flat out behind the scenes to try and maximise our performance ready for this weekend.”

“Oschersleben is a great track for us as a team. My first ever race with Target was here in TCR Germany in 2016 and we took a double victory! Of course you can’t let the past predict the future, but we have a good understanding of the place and we will be pushing from the off. We want more wins!”

The two free practice sessions kick off Friday afternoon, with the all-important two-part qualifying session commencing at 9.50 Saturday morning. Race 1 is at 13.40 on Saturday and Race 2 will follow on Sunday at a similar time of 13.30. For the first time this weekend, all sessions including free practice will be streamed live via FaceBook and YouTube.
